Hodu&U Entertainment, the agency of the late actor Lee Sun Kyun, has announced its decision to take legal action against the spread of false information.
On the 3rd, the agency stated, “We have become aware of rumors and false information circulating about our actors and have decided to collect relevant materials and proceed with legal action. We are determined to handle all situations firmly.”
Hodu&U expressed regret over some media’s malicious and indiscriminate reporting regarding the deceased, stating, “We had hoped that the truth would be revealed through a fair police investigation until the very end. However, since that no longer seems possible, we intend to correct each fact ourselves.”
Further, they informed that they had filed a lawsuit against a report published the day before, which contained false information. “We ask the reporter to sincerely apologize and faithfully engage in the upcoming legal proceedings,” the agency added.
The statement continued, “As the investigation was ongoing and is still not concluded, we could not respond to all media inquiries. We ask for the correction and removal of all articles and online posts that were published without clear sources or fact-checking.”
Lee Sun Kyun had been under investigation for a violation of the Narcotics Control Law since October 19th last year. Having consistently denied the allegations in three rounds of police questioning, he was found deceased near Waryong Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of December 27th.
