Why did Kim So Hyun and Seo Ji Hoon break up in My Lovely Liar?
tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama My Lovely Liar dropped new stills of Mok Sol Hee (Kim So Hyun) and Lee Kang Min (Seo Ji Hoon). The unexpected reunion of these ex-lovers hints at stirring changes on the horizon.
My Lovely Liar explores a unique romance that develops between Mok Sol Hee, who lost her trust in people due to her ability to hear lies, and Kim Do Ha (Hwang Min Hyun), a genius composer concealing his identity.
The newly-released photos capture the blissful moments and painful breakup of Mok Sol Hee and Lee Kang Min, piquing curiosity. Mok Sol Hee was never able to trust anyone because of her ability to discern lies. However, her smile when looking at her first love, Lee Kang Min, reveals a sense of complete trust and affection. Lee Kang Min reciprocates the sentiment. While a passionate detective drove by a strong sense of justice, he’s a romantic at heart when it comes to Mok Sol Hee.
But even their happiness couldn’t prevent the inevitable breakup. In a subsequent photo, they’re glaring at each other with resentful eyes, leaving us wondering what happened to these once-happy lovers.
Describing his character, Seo Ji Hoon said, “He is single-mindedly devoted and considerate to Mok Sol Hee, but as a detective, he is determined and strong. The difference between his sweet side and his principled detective persona is his charm.” He expressed his admiration for his co-star, Kim So Hyun, saying, “She seems to have an energy that makes those around her comfortable. There’s a lot to learn from her as an actress.”
Director Nam Sung Woo hinted, “As former lovers who coincidentally cross paths again, this brings a change in the emotional flow of Mok Sol Hee and Kim Do Ha.” He further added, “Especially, as Lee Kang Min, who is a detective chasing after an incident tied to Kim Do Ha, he will bring significant tension to the plot.”
Meanwhile, My Lovely Liar will air its first episode on July 31st at 8:50 PM KST.
