Netflix’s Celebrity has skyrocketed to the fourth spot on the Netflix Top 10 just two days after its highly anticipated release.
According to FlixPatrol, Celebrity secured its place as the fourth most popular TV show, trailing behind the juggernauts of The Witcher Season 3, Black Mirror Season 5, and Is It Cake? Season 2, on July 2nd.
Although it narrowly missed the top spot in South Korea, Celebrity claimed the number one position in four countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. It also ranked No.2 in South Korea, the Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, the Philippines and Singapore.
The show weaves a captivating narrative around the glamorous lives of social influencers in a world where fame and fortune are intertwined.
The stellar cast includes the talented Park Gyu Young, who delivers a standout performance as the character Seo Ari, a seemingly overnight sensation who amasses a staggering 1.3 million followers.
Joining her on this exciting journey are Kang Min Hyuk, Lee Chung Ah, Lee Dong Gun, and Jeon Hyo Sung, each leaving their mark on the screen with their impeccable portrayals.
South China Morning Post described the Netflix series as a captivating K-drama that “highlights why fame can be deadly by diving into the cutthroat world of influencers, with cameos by real stars.” Meanwhile, Ready Steady Cut praised the series as a “scandalous mystery with impressive, layered performances.” Heaven Horror aptly characterized the show as having a “distinctive Gossip Girl vibe” while exploring the lives of adult social media influencers. Deciders also gave their strong recommendation to “stream it,” emphasizing how intriguing “the actual mystery of what happened to A-ri” is.
