Yoo Ah In made a court appearance on the morning of May 24th for an arrest warrant hearing due to allegations surrounding drug misuse.

The hearing, which took place at the Seoul Central District Court, addressed allegations against Yoo Ah In, who is suspected of using a variety of drugs, including marijuana, propofol, cocaine, ketamine, and zolpidem.

When questioned on points such as “Do you admit to the charges?” and “Did you attempt to aid an accomplice in fleeing the country?” Yoo Ah In briefly responded, “I admit to a substantial portion of the allegations. However, I never made any attempt to aid an accomplice in fleeing.”

Approximately 30 minutes after Yoo Ah In’s appearance, an individual known as Artist A, who is also accused of the same charges, arrived at the court around 11:10 AM. The decision whether or not to issue an arrest warrant for Yoo Ah In is expected to be reached by the evening of the 24th, or at the latest, by the early morning of the 25th.

During his second summons, Yoo Ah In refuted allegations of cocaine use, insisting that his usage of propofol and ketamine was for medicinal purposes. He also admitted to smoking marijuana that he claimed was passed to him by an acquaintance.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Narcotics Team applied for an arrest warrant for Yoo Ah In on May 19th, citing his continuous denial of the allegations and the potential risk of evidence destruction as grounds for the request.

On the same day as Yoo Ah In’s second summons, the police also sought a warrant for A. Initially questioned as a witness in Yoo Ah In’s case, A is one of the four individuals suspected of either directly consuming drugs or assisting the actor in doing so, leading to a change in status from witness to suspect.

The decision regarding the detention of Yoo Ah In and A will be made after a warrant review interrogation that follows the warrant request made to the court.
