Ji Hyun Woo recently reflected on his grand prize win on Channel A’s I Like Ko Doo-shim (working title) and candidly shared his thoughts about the experience.
The actor, known for his role in the 2021 film Everglow where he portrayed a heartfelt romance with Go Doo Shim despite their 33-year age difference, was also honored with the grand prize at the 2021 KBS Drama Awards for his outstanding performance in Young Lady and Gentleman.
Ji Hyun Woo looked back on his win at the drama awards, saying, “I didn’t expect to win, and honestly, I was so terrified when I did. The awards ceremony was held on December 31st, and on January 1st, I went to Mount Odae and stayed there for about two days, trying to forget about the award until the completion of the drama series.”
He continued, “I did not feel like much had changed since winning the award. But I received so many calls since then. So I tried to calm down, get my feelings under control, and stay humble as it’s not the be-all and end-all.”
During his conversation with the veteran actress, Go Doo Shim, Ji Hyun Woo curiously asked, “Do you still feel any excitement after receiving seven awards?” In response, she shared, “Viewers now watch the show with high expectations of the actors. They are always ready to find flaws in your performance. It can be quite scary. Receiving the grand prize is just the beginning. But when you lack experience, you may mistakenly think you’re at the top of your field. That’s when you receive comments saying, ‘You are arrogant.'”
