Speculation is mounting over BLACKPINK’s future as Rosé hinted at a possible contract renewal ahead of its expiration.
The K-pop sensation held their “Born Pink World Tour” in Singapore’s National Stadium over the course of two days, May 13th and 14th. Fans have been focusing on member Rosé’s comments during the concert, interpreting them as hints at BLACKPINK’s re-signing.
At the concert, Rosé expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the fans, saying, “We know that you have been waiting for us to return to Singapore for a long time. Four years is not a short period. Thank you for supporting our music.” She then added, “BLACKPINK is not going anywhere,” eliciting cheers from the fans. Some believe that Rosé made these comments for fans who may be worried about BLACKPINK’s contract renewal with YG Entertainment.
BLACKPINK’s contract is set to expire in August, which is about three months from now. However, there has been no official comment about the renewal so far, and the announcement of YG’s launch of their new girl group Baby Monster, their first in seven years after BLACKPINK, has fueled more concerns. There have also been speculations that the debut of Baby Monster could be a contingency plan if BLACKPINK does not re-sign.
