Alchemy of Souls star Lee Jae Wook and Tale of the Nine Tailed actress Jo Bo Ah are in talks to lead the new drama Tangeum (literal title).
On the 19th, both Lee Jae Wook and Jo Bo Ah’s agencies, C-JeS Entertainment and KeyEast, stated that the actors are “positively considering” the offer to star in the new drama Tangeum.
Tangeum is a mystery romance historical drama based on a novel of the same name. Set in the Joseon era, the story revolves around a son who mysteriously returns after being missing since childhood and his half-sister who seeks the truth behind his disappearance. The drama highlights the lives of missing children from the time and tells a story of love between unloved children. Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area director Kim Hong Sun helms the project and Dr. Brain writer Kim Jin Ah pens the scripts, with AceMaker Movie Works producing the series.
Lee Jae Wook was offered the role of Hong Rang, the legitimate son of a wealthy and powerful merchant and his wife. Despite being born into a luxurious life, he goes missing at a young age and suddenly reappears after more than a decade. Although he shares a deep bond with his half-sister Jae Yi, they develop an odd relationship as she continuously doubts his identity. Hong Rang is shrouded in mystery, including the reasons behind his disappearance, his return, and his real identity.
If Jo Bo Ah joins the show, she’ll step into the role of Jae Yi, the rebellious daughter of the wealthy merchant. In Tangeum, Jae Yi grows up like a weed, facing her father’s neglect and his wife’s abuse. Her only ally in the world is her half-brother Hong Rang, on whom she relies to survive, but her world is turned upside down when her brother goes missing. While she appears as a pretty-looking con artist with a silver tongue, in reality, she is a desperate sister who pursues the truth behind her brother’s disappearance. When Hong Rang suddenly returns, she becomes suspicious and seeks to uncover the truth.
