Namkoong Min is saying goodbye to The Husband as the KBS drama reaches its finale.
Ahead of the August 9th final episode, Namkoong Min, Kim Dae Myung, Lee Sul, and Lee Sang Hee shared their closing thoughts on the series.
Episode 11, which aired on August 8th, set another personal ratings high for the drama, reaching 7.7% nationwide and peaking at 8.7%, according to Nielsen Korea.
Namkoong Min reflected on playing Kang Tae Joo, whose life is thrown into chaos after his wife is kidnapped.
“Kang Tae Joo may seem cold and rational on the outside, but he carries so many different emotions and wounds within him, so I tried not to miss even the smallest emotional detail,” he said.
He also thanked the cast and crew, saying, “I want to thank the director, writer, all of the staff who worked tirelessly for the best possible result through both the summer heat and winter cold, and the actors I had the privilege of working with.”
Turning to viewers, Namkoong added, “I gained so much strength until the very end thanks to the viewers who empathized with Tae Joo’s choices and emotions and rooted for him. I hope to greet you again through many different projects with better performances and even greater sincerity.”
Kim Dae Myung, who drew attention with his villainous turn as Noh Man Hee, also expressed his gratitude.
“I sincerely thank all of the crew members who worked so hard with us through the bitter winter cold, and all of the viewers who spent those hot summer nights,” he said. “I was truly happy to be part of such a great project for more than a year, from filming through its broadcast.”
He added, “Thank you for loving ‘The Husband.’ I’ll be back soon with another good project. See you soon!”
Lee Sul, who played Go Se Yoon as she fought to survive her kidnapping while navigating complicated feelings toward her husband, thanked viewers for staying with her character through the ordeal.
“Thanks to everyone who loved our drama, the start of this summer felt even more reassuring and joyful,” she said. “I sincerely thank all the viewers who rooted for Se Yoon’s escape and stayed with Tae Joo and Se Yoon’s relationship until the very end.”
Lee Sang Hee, who drew praise for her grounded, realistic performance, also shared her gratitude: “Looking back, the director, writer, staff and cast all worked incredibly hard on this project. I really miss that intensity, and I’m so grateful for it. To everyone who helped complete ‘The Husband’ together, you all worked so hard. Thank you.”
The 12th and final episode of The Husband aired on August 9th at 9:20 PM KST.
