Yoo Ah In is under investigation by the police for the habitual use of propofol.

On the 8th, the actor’s agency United Artists Agency confirmed, “Recently, Yoo Ah in was investigated by the police regarding propofol usage. He’s actively cooperating with all the related inquiries, and we will try to clarify the issues brought up.”

According to the police, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is investigating Yoo Ah In for violating the narcotic contract act. The actor is accused of regularly taking prescribed propofol while visiting multiple hospitals. The police submitted Yoo Ah In’s hair to the National Institute of Scientific Investigation for evaluation, and the actor was banned from leaving the country.

This will certainly affect Yoo Ah In’s upcoming projects – the Netflix movie The Match, which is about Go players, the Netflix series Good Bye Earth, which is about people who only have 200 days until an asteroid collides with Earth, and Hi.5, a movie about people with superpowers.

The Match centers around the confrontation between the two Go legends Cho Hun Hyun and Lee Chang Ho. This movie, based on a true event, is one of the most highly-anticipated movies on Netflix. Hi.5, the new project by hitmaker Kang Hyung Chul, who directed Scandal Makers and Sunny, is also in a pickle. The movie had already cast top actors, including Yoo Ah in, Ra Mi Ran, and more, and started its production with the goal of releasing in May.
