With only two episodes left, tvN’s Queen of Tears has fans on the edge of their seats, particularly after Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won) suffers from amnesia following surgery in the dramatic 14th episode. Viewers are now keenly focused on how Hong Hae In and Baek Hyun Woo (Kim Soo Hyun) will navigate the impending crises.

Netizens have turned their attention to screenwriter Park Ji Eun’s previous works for hints about the finale. Known for embedding subtle foreshadowing in her scripts, Park’s past dramas like My Love from the Star and The Producers have famously included key symbols that pointed to their conclusions.

In My Love from the Star (2013), plants play a significant role as a clue to the outcomes for the characters, illustrating the deep connection between the alien Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun) and his human love interest, Cheon Song Yi (Jeon Ji Hyun), signifying their enduring bond. Similarly, The Producers (2015) used a penalty shootout in an epilogue scene between Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun to show who Gong Hyo Jin would end up with—Cha Tae Hyun blocked Kim Soo Hyun’s shoot.

Queen of Tears employs similar techniques with “first snow” and “balsam nail” being the potential clues to a happy ending. In a pivotal scene, Hong Hae In applies balsam juice to her nails, recalling a local belief that if the stain remains until the first snow, her first love will be fulfilled. Episode 14 concludes with the first snowfall in Germany as Hae In checks her nails by the window—a visual clue that might suggest her amnesia won’t prevent her from recognizing her first love.

Additionally, the artwork in Hong Hae In’s room has drawn attention. One art analyst on YouTube suggested that a painting by artist Jeon Eun Sook, which uses a montage of various panels, could symbolically represent Hong Hae In’s fragmented yet hopeful psyche. Another theory circling among fans involves pregnancy, triggered by a past episode in which Hong Hae In mentioned an increase in her white blood cell count—a condition sometimes seen in pregnant women. This has led some to speculate that the series might conclude with the news of a new life, especially poignant given Hong Hae In’s past miscarriage.
