The project’s goal is to complete the first-ever voyage to the moon with private civilians, and the BIGBANG member will be one of eight crew members.
“I’m honored to have been chosen as a crew member for the dearMoon Project,” the rapper revealed. “I’ve always fantasized about space and the moon since I was a child. I’m looking forward to experiencing new forms of thrills and enlightenment through this initiative.”
“I feel a strong sense of pride and responsibility as I prepare to become the first South Korean to travel to the moon and represent my country. I hope that the dearMoon Project inspires and gives hope to many people around the world. I want people to believe that anything is possible if they have a dream,” he added.
The dearMoon Project is an art project founded by Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese entrepreneur and millionaire who founded Japan’s largest online shopping mall. The selected crew members include T.O.P, Steve Aoki, Rhiannon Adam, Karim Illya, Yemi A.D., Tim Dodd, Brendan Hall, Dev Joshi, Kaitlyn Farrington and Miyu.
