The 27th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has launched its new section called ‘Korean Cinema Today � Special Premiere’.
‘Korean Cinema Today � Special Premiere’ is a section that selects and premieres a handful of unreleased yet appealing Korean commercial films.
Bang Woo Ri, who won the 35th Blue Dragon Film Awards for Best Short Film withMrs. Young (2014), returns with her feature debut20th Century Girl. Plus, Chung Jiyoung, the masterful director of Korean cinema who directed influential films such as Unbowed (2011) andNational Security (2012), returns withThe Boys.
The feature debut of director Bang Woo Ri, 20th Century Girl, is about a love story of a young girl and a boy set in 1999, and the revelation of the same love told again in the 21st century. All of the actors, including Kim Yoo Jung, Byeon Woo Seok, Park Jung Woo and Noh Yoon Seo, play lovable characters, raising expectations for the nostalgia they will provide to 20th-century youth as well as the excitement they will provide to 21st-century youth.
The Boys tells the story of a detective who reopens the murder case involving three boys who robbed a supermarket in a small town. Sol Kyung Gu, Yu Jun Sang, Jin Kyung, Heo Sung Tae, and Yeom Hye Ran will star in the film.
The 27th Busan International Film Festival will be held from October 5th to October 14th at the Busan Cinema Center.
