Hansan: Rising Dragon maintained its top spot in the box office this weekend, marking its second week at No.1 above Emergency Declaration. The movie attracted 1,156,894 spectators from August 5th to the 7th, recording a cumulative audience of 4,598,529. Such a figure is by far the best performance achieved by the big three titles released this summer. Although it didn’t have large promotional events or a fanbase, the movie is currently enjoying its unbeatable streak as good word of mouth helped boost the movie. Fans are already excited to hear more about the final part of the director’s trilogy about Admiral Lee Sun Shin.

However, Emergency Declaration showed weak performance on its opening weekend. The movie gained a cumulative audience of 1,398,281 after pulling in 817,094 viewers over the weekend. With the outstanding acting of the main cast – Siwan, Kim Nam Gil, and Kim So Jin – receiving favorable reviews, the movie is also doing quite well on IMAX and 4DX screens. However, things are cloudy for the film as it is currently garnering split reviews and facing another box office battle with Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung‘s upcoming movie, Hunt, this week.
