Choi Sihun, who gained great popularity at home and abroad through Netflix’s Single’s �Inferno, was reportedly cast in the new Watcha exclusive BL series The New Employee (literal title).
The New Employee depicts the office romance between Jong Chan, the workaholic team leader, and new intern Seung Hyun. It’s based on the web novel released in 2016. The work became a hot topic for its realistic portrayal of office romance, and in 2022, it got a webtoon remake, which won the best webtoon award at Ridi’s BL contest.
According to Hankook Ilbo, Choi Sihun is stepping into the role of Yoo Sung, Seung Hyun’s first love. Another media outlet reported that Graceful Friends actor Kwon Hyuk has joined the cast to play Jong Chan.
Meanwhile, Choi Sihun appeared in various web dramas and web shows, including I Started Following Romance, Clumsy Love, and more. In particular, the actor gained popularity after appearing in Netflix’s dating reality show Single’s �Inferno. At the time, he took first place in real-time trends on Chinese social media Weibo.
Attention in The New Employee is already through the rood as it’s the second BL series produced by Watcha, which started the BL craze with Semantic Error earlier this year.
