From Sunmi to TWICE’s Nayeon, K-pop Hotshots Are Gearing Up for Their Summer Releases

K-pop female artists are eager to earn themselves the ‘Summer Queen’ title with their upcoming releases.

Nayeon will drop her first solo EP IM NAYEON on June 24th as the first TWICE member to go solo. The upcoming album’s title includes her name and confidence in being who she is. Her new title song “POP!” has an addictive melody that resembles her upbeat, bubbly personality.

Sunmi will make her return on June 29th with her new digital single titled “Heart Burn.” This marks her return ten months after she released her third mini-album named 1/6. This upcoming single includes two tracks, “Heart Burn” and “Childhood.” Reports say that she wrote and composed the two songs and added her musical brilliance to the upcoming release.

Hyolyn and Chung Ha are gearing up for their July releases. The Sistar member will be dropping her new song on July 18th, and Chungha is making her comeback with her second full-length album eighteen months after she released Querencia.

A girl group from a large agency is also gearing up for their summer comeback. aespa will be releasing their second mini-album Girls on July 8th. Their English single “Life’s Too Short” is set to drop on June 24th as a pre-release track. Reports say that the K-pop female act aims to make their entries in the American music market with their upcoming single. They recently appeared at Coachella and will hold a special showcase at the LA YouTube theater to meet overseas fans in person.

fromis_9 will be unveiling their fifth mini-album from our Memento Box on June 27th. The title track, “Stay This Way,” tells the story of fromis_9 members going on a surprise trip with its upbeat lyrics and melody perfectly fitted for the summer season. WJSN will also be joining the race with their single album, Sequence. Expectations are high on their new single album as it features all thirteen WJSN members after them winning the Mnet’s Queendom 2. Their title track, “Last Sequence,” is filled with melodies that will make listeners feel refreshed. BLACKPINK and Girls’ Generation will also be making their comebacks in August.

An industry insider said, “Female groups from the second, third, and fourth generations have announced their summer comeback,” and added, “This summer will be filled with unforgettable fun.”
