BIGBANG’s T.O.P graced the cover of Prestige magazine Hong Kong this month.

In an interview with the magazine, the singer opened up about the aftermath of his marijuana conviction and how he will be expanding his horizons beyond his group, BIGBANG.

T.O.P described the incident as the “worst moment” of his life. “This is the first time I’ve spoken this publicly, but I did try to commit suicide about five years ago. I realized later how much hurt and painful memories I gave to the people around me, my family, and fans out there”, the rapper explained. “I wrote more than 100 songs over the past five years. It’s been my motivation, like wanting to fill up a bookshelf with my work”.

The rapper recently decided to end his contract with the agency, YG Entertainment. In the meantime, the label announced BIGBANG’s comeback this spring. Regarding the group’s comeback as a 4-member boy band, he said: “The new release has my heartfelt message to fans with the reason I decided to part ways with the group.” News spread like wildfire, and now fans are speculating that this might be the sign that he will leave the group for good.

The rapper said to Prestige, “I don’t want to say that this will be my last, but it will take me a long while until I come back as T.O.P of BIGBANG.” He then said that he will be establishing a record company. “I don’t want to be a robot maker. I want to make a real artist and help real artists. I’m positive about making a group that’s completely different from Big Bang in the future”.
