The movie ‘Cobweb’ (literal title) has finalized its cast and is gearing up for filming.
Set in the 1970s, Cobweb tells the story of an obsessive film director Kim. Director Kim is obsessed with how the film he already finished filming will turn out better with a different ending. The story follows Kim’s tragicomic struggle as he pushes ahead with his belief despite the interference of authorities in charge of censorship and actors and producers who don’t understand the new ending.
The 1970s was the time when Korean films were called “Banghwa” and allowed to shoot only after passing the strict censorship. And none other than Korea’s top actor Song Kang Ho plays Kim, a filmmaker obsessed with the desire to make his movie “Cobweb” into a masterpiece. This is the fifth collaboration of Song Kang Ho and Kim Jee Woon duo, following The Good, The Bad, The Weird and The Age of Shadows.
Joining the actor in the cast is Oh Jung Se and Im Soo Jung. Oh Jung Se plays the male lead of “Cobweb,” womanizer top actor Kang Ho Se. Im Soo Jung will turn into the veteran actress and Kang Ho Se’s wife Lee Min Ja, aka the heroine of “Cobweb.”
Jeon Yeo Been takes on the role of Shim Mi Do, who is in charge of finance of Shin Sung Film, the company producing director Kim’s movie “Cobweb”. Lastly, Krystal will appear as Han Yoo Rim, a rookie actress who holds the key to the story of “Cobweb.”
Meanwhile, Cobweb is the debut project of Anthology Studio, a new production company director Kim Jee Woon and Song Kang Ho are founding members of. The filming will begin in March.
