BTS has broken another record on the Japanese Oricon chart.

On December 24th, Japanese music chart Oricon officially announced that BTS had topped its yearly artist rankings for this year’s best-selling artist in Japan. The total sales of an artist’s singles, albums, DVDs, and streaming statistics for the year are used to calculate the annual ranking.

The Japanese music platform reported, “BTS is the first overseas artist to grab the top spot on the year-end chart and total sales rankings.” Moreover, the group also topped Oricon’s singles ranking and albums ranking chart.

The most popular album in terms of sales between December 28th, 2020, and December 20th, 2021, was the album “BTS, The Best,” released in Japan. It’s the first time an international group has topped the annual album list.

The BTS members remarked, “We are truly honored to claim No. 1 on Oricon’s yearly rankings for this year. We believe this is all thanks to ARMY, who always supports us. Thank you so much for your never-ending love and support.”
