The drama adaptation of Bungee Jumping of Their Own has canceled its production.
On the 9th, Kakao Entertainment announced, “The production company (Choice Cut) owns all rights to derivative works, including remakes. Thus, there are no issues with continuing production. However, after much consideration, we decided to cancel the production in respect of the writer’s opinions.”
It is extremely rare to cancel the production of a remake due to the opposition of the original screenwriter when the copyright belongs to its producer. According to a source, the writer became a devout Christian a few years after writing the screenplay for the movie. She voiced concerns according to her religious beliefs upon hearing the news of the remake.
Bungee Jumping of Their Own is a 2001 film starring Lee Byung Hun, Yeo Hyun Soo, and Lee Eun Joo. Before all these dramas, Kakao TV was gearing up to produce the television series based on its original movie, featuring Lee Hyun Wook and NCT’s Jaehyun as the leads.
