Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah‘s hit-drama Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is setting a meaningful record on Netflix.
In the worldwide ranking of Netflix TV shows released on the 26th by FlixPatrol, four Korean series have ranked within the Top 10, demonstrating the dignity of K-content. Recently-released drama Hellbound ranked 1st. Squid Game (6th), The King’s Affection (9th), and Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (10th) followed the list.
One thing to note is the achievement Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is making. Since its premiere on August 28th, the series has never charted outside of the Top 10. It’s very unusual for a simple drama set in a small fishing village in Korea to consistently rank so high in the worldwide ranking, when blockbusters with flashy visual effects and creative worldviews continue to pour out.
Moreover, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha aired its final episode more than a month ago. And despite Kim Seon Ho’s scandal that sparked right after the finale, the drama has consistently maintained its spot in the Top 10.
Meanwhile, Kim Seon Ho will make his big-screen debut with director Park Hoon Jung’s new movie Sad Tropics (literal little). The filming will begin on December 10th.
