In the recent conference call, CJ ENM announced that tvN’s Crash Landing on You (2019-2020), starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin, is getting a Hollywood remake. This remake is co-planned and developed by the production company Studio Dragon and Netflix.

When Crash Landing on You was released on Netflix, it kept its No. 1 spot on Netflix Japan and on other Netflix channels in Southeast Asian countries. With that being said, the American remake is already getting hot attention. However, it’s hard to ignore the fact that the political and geographical division of Korea plays an important role in the original drama series. How will this be adapted in the remake, and where will the female lead “crash land” on?

Previously, American network CW has officially announced its plan to reboot Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo’s popular drama series W (2014). According to Deadline, this remake will be named Angel City. The writers are already working on the script, and the network has started the casting process.

Deadline introduced, “Angel City tells the story of Jules, a promising young surgeon whose stable life is upended when she gets pulled into an alternate dimension where her father’s graphic novel, and its alluring heroine, have come to life.” They added, “It is the latest Korean format being developed in the U.S. following the likes of ABC’s The Good Doctor, produced by Daniel Dae Kim, and HBO’s TV adaptation of Parasite in the works.”

Lee Seo Jin’s Trap (2019) is also getting an American remake in the States. The title of the remake will be The Club. It comes from Sons of Anarchy writer Jack LoGiudice, and Starlings Television president Chris Philip and Starlings Entertainment CEO Karine Martin were tapped as executive producers. In particular, Ma Dong Seok, who made his Hollywood debut with Eternals, has joined the project as a producer and a lead actor. He plays a veteran detective who lost his son. As he chases after the twisted mystery orchestrated by an elite and powerful group, he slowly finds out a shocking truth.
