Many new dramas are coming up in October. Jun Ji Hyun, Lee Young Ae, and Go Hyun Jung are making their long-awaited drama comeback, and rising stars like Park Eun Bin, Ro Woon, and Han So Hee are gearing up to lead their piping hot shows. Ranging from period drama to mystery thriller and action noir to comedy investigation, there will be a variety of genres of fun new drama series. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the new works coming up in October.

The King’s Affection (10/11)

Storyline: It is a mystery romance drama about a pair of royal twins of opposite genders. Although the sister was abandoned for being a girl, she later disguises herself as a man to become the crown prince when her brother dies.

What to look for: Being a period drama that usually receives good viewership ratings, the series is about to tell a captivating story about a woman cross-dressing as a man. Park Eun Bin takes on the role of Crown Prince Lee Hwi, who must keep the secrets, and SF9’s Rowoon will play her mentor, Jung Ji Woon. Amid the heightening interest in the upcoming romance of the two actors, all eyes are on the new series chosen by Netflix, which usually selects its new works from the pool of contemporary K-dramas.

Reflection of You (10/13)

Storyline: It is a story about a woman named Jeong Hee Joo who is devoted to her desires and another woman who loses hope in her life due to the other.

What to look for: It is a new drama by JTBC after two months of hiatus since their latest series Monthly Magazine Home. The upcoming drama is garnering huge attention since it is Go Hyun Jung’s new series in two years featuring her flawless timeless beauty. Go plays Jeong Hee Joo, who lives a perfect life as an artist and wife of a wealthy man. Shin Hyun Bin plays Goo Hae Won, an art teacher who is living the complete opposite life to Hee Joo. The drama will be about the affair, betrayal, corruption, and revenge that follows their meeting.

My Name (10/15)

Storyline: It is an action noir series about a woman who joins a criminal organization and, under their direction, infiltrates the police as an undercover agent to find the truth behind her father’s death.

What to look for: This is the second Netflix series directed by Kim Jin Min of Extracurricular. The World of the Married actress who also starred in Nevertheless, plays Ji Woo, who infiltrates the police organization to avenge her father’s death. Contrary to her previous roles, she is said to have done many challenging stunts to fully portray the brutal actions scenes in the series. Park Hee Soon takes on the role of Mu Jin, the drug cartel boss who accepts Ji Woo as his gang member and orders her to infiltrate the police. Ahn Bo Hyun will play Pil Do, a narc detective who partners with Ji Woo. Would Netflix be able to make another hit series with My Name followed by D.P. and Squid Game?

Jirisan (10/23)

Storyline: It is a mystery drama about mountain rangers against the backdrop of the vast unexplored forest of Jirisan Mountain.

What to look for: The cast and the crew are absolutely amazing, and they need no further introduction. Jun Ji Hyun and Ju Ji Hoon have confirmed to star in the new work of director Lee Eung Bok of Mr.Sunshine and Sweet Home and Signal and Kingdom writer Kim Eun Hee. Like the writer’s previous works that give its main focus to the mystery rather than the romance, Jirisan will most likely be a series about finding the truth behind a series of mysterious accidents that happened in the vast mountain. Jun Ji Hyun plays Seo Yi Gang, the best ranger in Jirisan National Park. Ju Ji Hoon plays Kang Hyun Jo, a rookie ranger with a secret. Since it has been the most anticipated work coming out in the second half of this year, viewers are waiting to see its success.

Inspector Koo (TBA)

Storyline: It is a comedy detective series about a rogue insurance investigator whose world is all about games and alcohol. With her background as a former cop, she digs into mysterious accidents and discovers that they were in fact serial murders.

What to look for: Lee Young Ae is returning to the small screen after four years with a shocking character. Lee had long been considered elegant and graceful. However, in this series, she will turn into a former police officer who became a helpless recluse. Kingdom actor Kim Hye Joon who also appeared in Sinkhole will star as mysterious college student K who winds up with Kyung Yi. Since producer Heo Jun Ho’s new JTBC series Lost continues to see the ratings drop even starring Jeon Do Yeon and Ryu Jun Yeol, all eyes are on Lee Young Ae’s new drama and whether it will bring the glory back to the network.

Work Later, Drink Now (TBA)

Synopsis: It is a story about three women who love to grab a drink after having a tough day at work.

What to look for: It is expected to bring an exciting story about the friendship of three women who love to drink and party. Since it is all about having a chill night with drinks, there will be many mouthwatering food and snacks that will captivate the audience. All eyes are on the new series about three girl friends and whether it would be able to win the hearts of viewers. Lee Seon Bin, Han Seon Hwa, and Jung Eun Ji will appear as three best friends, and Choi Si Won will play a dope entertainment producer.
