BLACKPINK Tops Japan’s Oricon Chart With ‘THE ALBUM’

According to YG Entertainment on August 4th, BLACKPINK’s THE ALBUM, released in Japan on the 3rd, topped the Oricon’s Daily Album Chart and Apple Music’s Top Album Chart in Japan.

Their singles smashed chart records as well. The pre-released singles “How You Like That” and “Lovesick Girls” have snagged major music charts in Japan, including Line Music, AWA, and iTunes.

Selling 1.3 million copies of the first full-length album which was released in October last year, BLACKPINK became the first million-seller among all K-pop female groups (according to the Hanteo/Gaon Chart).

Moreover, this time, they dominated the global charts. For instance, THE ALBUM �topped the iTunes Albums Chart in 57 countries and came in at No.2 on the Billboard 200 and the Official Charts in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will celebrate their fifth anniversary on August 8th. BLACKPINK THE MOVIE, a film produced to mark their 5th year, will be released on the 4th in over 100 countries.
