According to Billboard, “Permission to Dance” pushed down “Butter,” which ranked first on Hot 100 for 7 weeks from June. With this, BTS once again proved themselves to be the “best boy band of the generation.”

This is the 13th time that BTS has put their name on the top spot of Hot 100 – 3 times with “Dynamite,” 1 time with “Savage Love,” 1 time with “Life Goes On,” 7 times with “Butter,” and 1 time with “Permission to Dance.”

Moreover, BTS has put their 5th song on No. 1 over 10 months and two weeks. That’s the fastest record made since Michael Jackson, who had tallied five, all from his album Bad, over nine months and two weeks in 1987-88.

Also, BTS is the first artist to dethrone themselves since Drake, whose “In My Feelings” ended the eight-week reign of “Nice for What.”

BTS members personally expressed their joy over this fascinating record. RM thanked the ARMYs, saying, “I’m so emotional right now! Honestly, I’ve grown kind of numb to both happiness and sadness because it has been so long since I got to see you all in person. But today, I’d like to close my eyes, dance away, and really embrace this feeling… because I am happy for sure!”

Suga wrote, “I give everyone permission to dance!!! Let us dance away in joy today!” Jimin posted a photo of him doing a formal bow, showing his fans the utmost respect and gratitude. He also added the following caption, “Thank you so much once again for your endless love and support. And I’ll continue to work hard. Please stay happy. We want you to be happy.”

And ARMY wasn’t the only one who was impressed with Jimin’s post. Jin soon uploaded his post, referencing it. “My phone kept buzzing, so I checked. And it said PTD is #1. I’d share a picture of me bowing down too. I’ll keep working harder, thank you!”
