Mingyu and Wonwoo will release their new song “Bittersweet” as the new sub-unit on the 28th. And this is the official start of Seventeen’s new project, “Power of Love.”
“Power of Love” is a project that unravels various moments of life we face through music. And the first song of the project is Mingyu and Wonwoo’s “Bittersweet,” which is about the unexpected love that the three friends experience out of the blue.
Mingyu shared, “There is a moment when you have to choose one of the many emotions you feel. We wrote this song with the idea of ‘what if we choose to write about love and friendship?’” Wonwoo described “Bittersweet” as the song about “youth that’s both bitter and sweet.” He then added, “The word youth continued to come to mind while making music, recording, and filming the music video.”
Seventeen has mostly sung cheery and bright songs, but this new song has more dept to it. Wonwoo said, “We chose the members whose voice suits well to the ‘bittersweet’ image. I think it shows a more mature side of the group than the regular Seventeen’s image.”
Lee Hi took part in the song as a featuring artist. “When we were making the chorus, Lee Hi came to our mind. We asked her for help, and she willingly said yes.”
Meanwhile, Seventeen will drop their 8th mini-album, Your Choice, next month.
