Soon after the lead actor dropped out, someone else urgently joined to fill his place. The viewers who had never known the new actor cheered on for him from the bottom of their hearts. It is a story of none other than Na In Woo, the new face of Ondal from KBS’ River Where the Moon Rises.

Na In Woo made his debut in 2015 as an escort warrior Se Won, who protects the woman he has a crush on in MBC’s Shine Or Go Crazy. In the same year, he played Dong Woo (played by Lee Jun Ho)’s the immature and wholesome younger brother in the film Twenty. After training at JYP, he became the first actor to be under Cube Entertainment. With his tall height and charming face, he made his way into the romance series. As Yoon Ga Ohn in Spark, Park Ji Ho in It’s Okay to be Sensitive, and Yoo Kwon in Yeonnamdong Family, the actor took his role in short web dramas as their main supporting characters and strengthened his foundations.

He acted as Nam I Nam in KBS Unasked Family, in which the character overcame complex emotions after learning the secret behind his origin. Becoming so immersed and focused on the character, he dropped about 10kgs while filming for a total of 123 episodes. He also played his first role as a villain with ease in JTBC’s fantasy drama Mystic Pop-Up Bar, where he became an evil spirit.

Afterward, he transformed into Byeong In, a character with a crush on So Yong (played by Shin Hye Sun) in tvN’s Mr. Queen. He left a massive presence as a supporting character. Viewers noticed him as much as the main character Cheoljong (Kim Jung Hyun). There were particularly many favorable responses to his delicate emotional expressions. Recognizing what the viewers wanted, he said in an interview. “I don’t know why they want to make me cry, but I’m glad that my acting was delivered well..”

He is now demonstrating a perfect depiction of Ondal in the drama River Where the Moon Rises as if it were his character from the start. He has been getting positive reactions from the viewers for his stable performance since the seventh episode. In the episode, he first appears as General Ondal, who loves Princess Pyeonggang of Goguryeo. According to Good Data Corporation, he ranked fourth for popular drama casts as soon as he was in the show. Even after considering that he had experience in historical dramas like his previous work, Mr. Queen, his integration into the show was so natural that many praised him for perfectly embodying Ondal.

Rushed and prepared to become the main character of River Where the Moon Rises, Na In Woo’s performance continues. A youth drama based on a webtoon Blue Spring From a Distance will be aired in June, and the webtoon-based romance movie Her Bucket List will follow it up.

Editor Seo Hayne: I like actors as they faithfully lead through their long running-time. I also like idols who accomplish everything on stage within 3 minutes.
