Since the news of Yunho being investigated for violating social distancing regulations became a hot topic, many expressed their surprise and regrets over the thoughtless action of the artist, who has built up his images as a “passionate guy” with much devotion to his craft and continued good deeds.

Since the news hit the wire, Yunho personally took his Instagram to express his sincere apology and regret.

“Hello. This is Jung Yunho.
I apologize. I greatly disappointed the people who have believed in me and supported me.
Above all, I am very sorry to the healthcare workers working hard and dealing with a difficult situation due to COVID-19 and to everyone who has been going through difficult and tiring days.
I am very ashamed and angry with myself for being unable to abide by the business hour restrictions when meeting with my friends and spending time talking with them, and many people must also be angry and upset by my wrongdoing.
I feel so regretful and sorry for not paying more attention and for my wrongdoing.
I will reflect deeply on violating the social distancing regulations and more thoroughly follow the COVID-19 social distancing regulations, and in each moment, I will think deeply before I act.
Once again, I sincerely apologize.”

Some still continue to criticize him, yet, many netizens left supportive comments on his post, such as “As long as you don’t make the same mistake,” and “I can forgive Yunho since it’s Yunho.” Mostly, such reactions are expected to have been derived from the high morals that the idol has shown so far, but above all else, netizens are raising voices of encouragement for Yunho, who is clearly beating himself up.

TVXQ’s Yunho is under investigation on charges of violating social distancing regulations (under the Act on the Prevention and Management of Infectious Diseases).

According to the police, Yunho stayed at a restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, until midnight in late February. This is a violation of social distance guidelines. According to the current regulations in Seoul, business hours are limited to 10 pm KST, and customers are required to leave before then.

As a result, Yunho and his acquaintances were questioned by police, and the restaurant owner is also expected to face administrative measures regarding the case.

Soon after the news hit the wire, SM Entertainment released an official statement.

“This is SM Entertainment.

We sincerely apologize for causing concern in this situation where many people are having a difficult time due to COVID-19.

Yunho recently met up with three acquaintances at a restaurant in Gangnam, and he was investigated for staying past the business operating hours restricted by regulation.

Yunho is deeply reproaching and reflecting on himself for causing disappointment to many people due to a moment of carelessness.

We are also apologetic for not thoroughly managing and guiding our artist to follow social distancing guidelines in his personal time as well.

In order for the hard work of medical workers, quarantine staff, volunteers, and everyone making efforts to overcome COVID-19 to not go to waste, we will strive to improve our education and guidance of social distancing regulations.

We once again apologize for causing concern.”
