Kim Hee Ae is set to take on a high-stakes romance opposite Noh Sang Hyun—23 years her junior—in the upcoming JTBC drama Gold Digger (literal title).
The network confirmed on April 22nd that the two actors will lead the mystery romance, which centers on a successful middle-aged woman whose life is shaken by the sudden arrival of a suspicious younger man. As their relationship deepens, the line between love and doubt begins to blur.
Kim Hee Ae returns to JTBC for the first time in about six years following her acclaimed performance in The World of the Married, where she delivered one of cable television’s highest-rated dramas. Noh Sang Hyun, who’s currently showing solid performance in Perfect Crown, joins her in what promises to be a compelling on-screen pairing.
In the series, Kim plays Min Young Joo, a publishing CEO at the height of her career. Her carefully controlled life begins to unravel when she becomes entangled with freelance designer Jung Jae Hee, played by Noh. Their connection, sparked like a fleeting midsummer night’s dream, pulls them into an emotionally charged relationship where neither truth and lies blur.
Also joining the cast is Cha Hak Yeon, who will play Min Young Joo’s son. Kim Ji Eun will star as her daughter, completing the family dynamic.
The production team teased a deeply immersive story, inviting viewers “to enjoy the fun of forming your own interpretations and speculations within a relationship where love and doubt intersect.”
