DAY6’s Sungjin announced his enlistment today via the V Live session he held on his way to the army training center.
In the live broadcast, Sungjin shared, “I still can’t believe it. But I think it will be a break for me because I’m the kind of person who’s better with physical fatigue is better than mental fatigue.”
“I’m going to continue my DAY6 activities after I’m discharged from the military. I came up with this decision (to join the army) because of my trust in my fans and our members,” he added. “My draft card came out a month ago, but I couldn’t say it because I was worried that the fans would worry about it the entire month. The company respected my opinion a lot.”
However, as DAY6 announced their comeback as a complete group not long ago, fans’ confusion arose. In response, JYP stated, “We are currently working on the album and the release date is still under discussion.”
Earlier in May last year, Sungjin briefly suspended his activities, complaining of psychological anxiety. Amid fans’ expectations for the “complete” comeback including Sungjin, the news of his surprise enlistment will come as a shock.
