Fashion icon Kai became the model of Gucci’s 100th-anniversary capsule collection.
As Gucci’s global ambassador, Kai became the first Korean artist to unveil a capsule collection that’s named after his stage name, “KAI x Gucci.”
In particular, Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele said he was inspired by Kai’s favorite “Teddy Bear” to showcase the “Teddy Bear” motif ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories. The KAI x Gucci Capsule Collection was revealed for the first time in the pages of Esquire Korea’s March 2021 edition.
“The Kai Capsule Collection is a collection that embodies my favorite animal, a bear. Gucci is a luxury brand, and it doesn’t give off the feeling that it’s something you typically wear in your everyday life. But with the cute bear, it seems much more casual,” Kai told the magazine, per a translation by Soompi.
Not only did the idol pull of all the fashionable Gucci outfits, but he also captured a campaign message that reminds viewers of their childhood best friends.
“I heard this is the first time Gucci has released a collection with Korean celebrity. I am incredibly grateful and just as thrilled to be able to present a collection with my name. I think I had a run of great luck,” said Kai in his interview.
