The new Chinese album of EXO’s Lay has been revealed today on the 5th.
Lay’s special album PRODUCER has been made available on multiple music platforms such as Flo, Melon Music, and Genie Music since 6 p.m. KST of Feb 5th. The album carries 9 total songs including the title track “Joker” and “XiangJiang River (Feat. KungFuPen),” which are all written by the artist himself.
This album is special as it collects Lay’s self-written, composed, and produced songs from I am Singer-Songwriter 2 (I’m CZR 2). The show is a Chinese creative song competition show, in which Lay won last year.
The title track “Joker” is a hip-hop song under the theme of “the duality of a clown,” expressing the hysteric persona behind one’s laugh. The song attracted attention as it topped China’s QQ Music Weekly Popularity Chart and the Trending Chart as soon as it was pre-released on Feb 1st. “XiangJiang River” is another impressive song that demonstrates Lay’s new style amongst oriental melodies.
From the soft “Love Lay”, ferocious “Flipped”, catchy hip-hop song “Ambush”, the sorrowful ballad “Stay With Me”, charismatic “Horse”, tough “Descendants of the Dragon”, to the dreamy pop “Obsessed,” 9 tracks each with their own colors can be heard in his album PRODUCER.
