Jeon Do Yeon and Ryu Jun Yeol will return to the small screen after five years with a deeply emotional drama.
JTBC’s new drama No Longer Human confirmed its cast lineup on Jan 21 and announced the start of filming. Along with The Last Princess and Forbidden Dream director Hur Jin Ho and My Love, My Bride and Architecture 101 screenwriter Kim Ji Hye, Jeon Do Yeon and Ryu Jun Yeol joined the production, completing one awesome dream team.
No Longer Human tells the story of ordinary people trying their best to see the light of the day. The drama revolves around a woman in her 40s who lost her way after failing to accomplish anything, and a 27-year-old man who is afraid of himself believing that he will never accomplish anything.
Jeon Do Yeon will play Boo Jung, a ghostwriter who wanted to become a writer. She has always tried her best in life, but she faces her failure one day and loses the meaning of life. Through Boo Jung, Jeon will breathe life into a character that shows big emotional shifts.
Ryu Jun Yeol has been cast to play Kang Jae, the operator of a role-acting service. He dreams of living a rich man’s life, but the reality is that he has lost his direction without accomplishing anything. And one day, he meets Boo Jung and goes through emotional upheaval. With this role, Ryu will portray the complex inner thoughts and emotions of a youth.
Above all, the impressive synergy created by the two actors, who have always shown a heavy presence in their works, is expected.
“A melodrama that needs to draw sympathy from viewers without stimulating devices is a difficult genre,” said director Hur. “I am grateful and excited to work with the two great actors in my first drama. I will try my best to capture the story of lonely Boo Jung and Kang Jae with a warm gaze.”
No Longer Human will premiere in the second half of this year.
