BLACKPINK once again topped NEW K.ID’s Weekly Chart. BLACKPINK’s ‘Lovesick Girls’ Dance Practice Video recently passed over 100 million views on YouTube after 68 days since the video’s release. The title track of BLACKPINK’s first studio album, ‘Lovesick Girls’ got tremendous love and popularity from the fans all over the world due to its catchy melody and powerful vocals from the members. The song talks about how people constantly seek love despite the pain that comes with it. ‘Lovesick Girls’ was also the first BLACKPINK song that JISOO and JENNIE helped write and produce. Furthermore, BLACKPINK was named Variety’s Hitmakers Group of the Year.

Coming in at #2 is none other than BTS. Now the world-famous group is continuing to shatter records in the states as they show impressive performance on radio platforms. According to the Mediabase, a music industry service that monitors radio station airplay, BTS’s ‘Dynamite’ was the 5th most played song on the US radio between December 8th and December 14th. This is the best radio record not only for BTS but also for any Korean artists. BTS’s talent management and agency company, Big Hit Entertainment, also noted that BTS ranked 5th on Billboard’s ‘POP SONGS’ which is the seven-member boy group’s best record on that particular chart.
STRAY KIDS and DAY6, ranked at #6 and #7 respectively, were named in TIME’s The Best K-Pop Songs and Albums of 2020. Within the songs and albums that represented K-Pop in 2020 were STRAY KIDS ‘In Life’, and DAY6’s ‘The Book of Us: The Demon’. TIME commented that ‘In Life’ “offer a feast of dynamic hooks and festive vibes” while ‘The Book of Us: The Demon’ “boast memorably penetrating lyrics.” Along with STRAY KIDS and DAY6, the other artists who made it into the list were TWICE and ITZY from the same management company, JYP Entertainment.
At #10 is EXO whom one of the members, KAI, is planning to hold a virtual fan meeting titled ‘Merry KAI-mas’. The online fan meeting will be held on December 20th at 4 PM KST via V LIVE EXO. The fan meeting will be in Christmas theme with EXO’s KAI playing various music charades and fun activities. KAI released his first solo album ‘KAI’ last November with the album topping both iTunes album charts in 55 different territories and various music charts in China.
