Big Hit Entertainment has made it official that it will acquire ZICO’s agency KOZ Entertainment.
KOZ is an entertainment company founded by producer and artist ZICO in November 2018 and is home to ZICO and DVWN, a rookie musician who was recruited last November.
Big Hit, which established BELIFT LAB with CJ ENM and acquired Source Music last year and PLedis Entertainment this year, officially announced its merge with KOZ Entertainment, once again expanding its multi-label system.
With the joining of KOZ, led by ZICO, Korea’s top producer and solo artist, Bit Hit Labels is expected to gain “the effect of killing two birds with one stone” by expanding its artist lineup and strengthening their producing team at the same time.
Yoo Seung Hyun, CEO of KOZ, said, “The philosophy of KOZ, which values artist and content and aims to innovate the music industry, and Big Hit, which is innovating the business model of the music industry, are similar. We will work hard to find talented artists and promote global business in earnest under the collaboration with Big Hit.”
“I’m happy to be with Zico, the nation’s top producer and artist,” said Bang Si Hyuk, chairman of Big Hit. “We look forward to KOZ artists’ strong performance in the global market through Big Hit’s global network and systematic music production system. We are looking forward to the synergy that Big Hit and KOZ will create together.”
Some insiders say that this recent acquisition will be one of Big Hit’s ways of lessening the blow once BTS members start their military services.
