Lee Byung Hun will star in the movie about the story of 9-dan professional Go player Cho Hoon Hyun.

According to a media outlet, Lee Byung Hun has recently decided to star in the new movie Match (literal translation) and is working on details. Match tells the story of a Go master who has to play an inevitable game with his disciple. It is based on the true story of Go legends Cho Hoon Hyun and Lee Chang Ho, who were forced to become rivals. The Sheriff In Town director Kim Hyung Joo will direct the movie.

After finishing Han Jae Rim’s Emergency Declaration, Lee Byung Hun will film Match first and work on Concrete Utopia next year.

Initially, the actor planned on filming Noh Hee Kyung’s new drama HERE (working title) after Emergency Declaration. However, as HERE postponed its oversea filming schedules due to the spread of COVID-19, he chose to work on other projects first. As a result, Lee Byung Hun will film Match from the latter half of this year and shoot the tent-pole movie Concrete Utopia next year.

Match plans to begin filming at the end of this year after finishing its major casting and pre-production work.
