Kang Ha Neul is soon coming back to the movie scene after finishing his latest television drama and play.

On March 1, he performed the last show of Fantasy Tale, a play in which he had participated since the end of KBS‘s Wednesday-Thursday series When the Camellia Blooms. After taking a rest for a while, Kang Ha Neul is shooting a melodrama film Story of You and the Rain (also known as Rain and Your Story) within the first half of the year.

He’ll also start filming the historical blockbuster The Pirates 2 (working title, directed by Kim Jung Hoon) this summer if he would confirm his own appearance in the movie. According to the Korean news website Newsen on March 2, an official from the production team of The Pirates 2 recently revealed that it’s still contacting many actors for casting.

Last year, the actor gained explosive popularity again by portraying Yong Sik, a naive lead male in When the Camellia Blooms. It was his first appearance on the small screen right after being discharged from the army. He has already received an enormous amount of film scenarios from those who are eager to work with him after the end of When the Camellia Blooms. As one of the next generation of lead actors in Korean movie industry, Kang Ha Neul is expected to show fine performances in 2020 as much as he did in the various genres such as Twenty, DongJu: The Portrait of a Poet, New Trial, Midnight Runners and Forgotten.
