Cha Joo Young clarified misunderstandings about the white dress scene in The Glory.
Choi Hye Jeong, portrayed by Cha Joo Young, is one of the classmates who bullied Moon Dong Eun (played by Song Hye Kyo) along with Park Yeon Jin (Lim Ji Yeon). She is the daughter of a laundromat owner and works as a flight attendant. She is a vain character who sees marriage as a means of advancing her social status.
The actress had often donned form-fitting outfits during the show to accurately depict her character, who had received breast augmentation. Among these scenes, one in particular from Part 1 gained attention as it featured her in a revealing white dress and being mistreated by Yeon Jin and Lee Sa Ra (Kim Hieora).
This scene went viral and became a topic of discussion among fans. However, the actress caused some confusion during an interview with Allure when she let out a sigh while responding to a question about the scene. This led to some speculation and misunderstanding among the audience about her true feelings toward the scene.
Cha Joo Young explained that the sigh she made during the interview was not due to the outfit she wore, but because of her own feelings. She clarified, “There were several costume options available for the scene, and I had initially chosen a cute outfit that did not fit tightly to my body. However, after understanding the purpose of the scene, I realized that wearing the white dress was necessary to showcase my character’s personality. Despite this, I still felt self-conscious about my weight gain and body image, which led me to sigh.”
