Josée director Kim Jong Kwan‘s new film Shades Of The Heart will be released next month, according to at9 Film.
Shades Of The Heart tells the story of a novelist Chang Seok, who returned to Seoul after 7 years, writing a new book about the lost hearts. In the released poster, Chang Seok is seen walking down the street alone as the warm lights and shadows embrace him. The phrase “I was different then” adds to the curiosity about the people who Chang Seok met and separated and their stories.
Yeon Woo Jin plays Chang Seok, a novelist who returned to Seoul after seven years, and collects stories of lost people on familiar yet unfamiliar roads. Kim Sang Ho turns into a photographer who reencounters Chang Seok by chance and tells a dramatic story about hope.
Lee Joo Young has been cast to play a bartender at the bar where Chang Seok frequents and unfolds a unique story as a mysterious figure who buys memories from customers. Yoon Hye Ri appears as an editor who helps Chang Seok publish his novel and tells stories based on her memories.
Particularly, IU (Lee Ji Eun), who worked with director Kim in Netflix series Persona, made her special appearance as a woman whom Chang Seok met in a coffee shop. As a woman who has lost time, IU will mark the beginning of Shades Of The Heart.
Shades Of The Heart has been listed in the Jeonju Cinema Project selection at the 20th Jeonju International Film Festival.
Director Kim shared, “It’s about a person taking a step forward in his life after passing through various stories. It tells the story of life, and I made a bold attempt to capture the state where something is present or maybe not.
