A new report claims that the KakaoTalk messages used as evidence in allegations that Kim Soo Hyun dated Kim Sae Ron while she was a minor were actually sent by another celebrity.
Dispatch reported on October 13th that police had analyzed conversations recovered from Kim Sae Ron’s electronic devices through forensic examinations, along with KakaoTalk screenshots saved in cloud storage.
According to the report, police identified celebrity A as the sender of the disputed 2016 messages. The original conversation reportedly included A’s real name. Investigators determined that the messages were not written by Kim Soo Hyun based on their content, writing style and spelling patterns.
Dispatch also reported that Kim Se Eui, head of the YouTube channel Hover Lab, instructed an employee to change the sender’s name from “Unknown” to “Kim Soo Hyun.”
Kim Soo Hyun first faced allegations in March 2025 that he had dated Kim Sae Ron while she was still a minor. He denied the allegations at a press conference and subsequently took legal action against Gaseyeon and Kim Sae Ron’s bereaved family.
In May 2026, police concluded that the evidence supporting claims that Kim Soo Hyun had dated Kim Sae Ron as a minor was found to be false.
