Park Eun Bin and Yum Jung Ah will star together for the first time in the upcoming family drama Nam Eun Jung (literal title), the feature debut of director Kim Dong Hoon.

The film centers on Kang Hyun Sook, a mother who raised three children on her own, and her youngest daughter Nam Eun Jung, whose relationship with her has been strained for years. The story follows the pair as they begin confronting the misunderstandings and resentment that have built up between them.

Yum will play Hyun Sook, a strong-willed mother who has spent years holding her family together. Her recent film credits include Smugglers, Life Is Beautiful and Intimate Strangers.

Park will play the titular Eun Jung, who has spent so many years bickering with her mother that even the affection between them seems to have worn away. The role marks Park’s return to the big screen following The Witch: Part 2. The Other One.

Park has more recently focused on television, starring in projects including Castaway Diva and The King’s Affection. She also won the Grand Prize in the television category at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards for Extraordinary Attorney Woo.

The film marks the first time Yum and Park have worked together, with the two taking on a mother-daughter relationship defined by equal parts love, frustration and emotional distance.

Nam Eun Jung will be directed by Kim Dong Hoon, whose previous work in advertising earned him two Korea Advertising Awards.

The project is currently in pre-production after finalizing its main cast.
