Disney Plus has set an October 30th premiere for The Perfect Lie, a psychological thriller starring Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin, and unveiled a new poster and trailer teasing a tense confrontation between their characters.
The series follows two people who offer conflicting accounts of the same night after a seemingly perfect first date. Yoo and Seo reunite on screen a decade after starring together in the hit medical drama Dr. Romantic.
Yoo plays Min Joon Ho, a perfectionist heart surgeon known for his kindness and sense of humor, while Seo stars as Kang Ji Sun, an elementary school teacher-librarian with strong educational principles who encourages children to think and question things for themselves.
The newly released poster shows Min and Kang staring coldly at each other, a stark contrast to their initial romantic connection. The tagline reads, “You’re the one who lied,” setting up the central mystery of whose account can be trusted.
The trailer opens with the pair enjoying what appears to be a perfect first date before their relationship takes a sharp turn. The captions “A Perfect Date” and “Conflicting Testimonies” hint at the incident that leaves them at odds.
“Please stop telling that ridiculous lie!” Min demands, while Kang fires back, “If you’ve done something, you have to pay the price.”
The footage cuts between their affectionate first encounter and their increasingly hostile confrontations, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding what happened that night.
Jo Young Min, whose credits include You and Everything Else, The Interest of Love and Do You Like Brahms?, directs the series, bringing his experience with character-driven dramas to the psychological thriller.
The Perfect Lie premieres October 30th on Disney Plus, with new episodes released every Friday and Saturday.
