BLACKPINK’s Lisa is expected to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 North, Central, and Caribbean Football Confederation (CONCACAF) World Cup, which will take place next month.
According to The Athletic, a sports media outlet and subsidiary of The New York Times, Lisa has signed a performance contract with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
As this World Cup will be hosted by three countries—Canada, the United States, and Mexico—the opening ceremony will be presented in three parts.
Lisa is expected to perform at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles alongside artists such as Katy Perry, Future and DJ Snake, ahead of the match between the United States and Paraguay.
The Toronto ceremony will feature performances by Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette and Alessia Cara, while the ceremony at Mexico’s Estadio Azteca will include rock band Maná, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda and Tayla. The U.S. and Canadian stages are each planned for 13 minutes, while the Mexican stage will last 16 minutes and 30 seconds.
It is noteworthy that a K-pop artist will be performing on the World Cup stage. Jungkook of BTS performed at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, presenting the official soundtrack “Dreamers.” Now, a K-pop female solo artist will take the stage at the World Cup opening ceremony.
