
Cha Eun Woo is breaking his silence following a massive tax evasion controversy, and he has at least one high-profile ally in his corner.
The singer and actor posted a lengthy apology to his Instagram account on April 8th.

While the public reaction has been mixed, one “like” on the post stood out: that of Lee Joo Young, a prominent influencer and fourth-generation heiress to the Daelim Group, one of South Korea’s largest conglomerates. As of 7 AM KST on April 9th, Lee was the only notable public figure to openly signal support for the star following his admission.
Lee is the granddaughter of Daelim Group’s Honorary Chairman and a graduate of Georgetown Law Center. Known for her massive social media following, she has long been a fixture in the “chaebol” influencer scene. She also made headlines after sharing an Instagram photo with G-Dragon in September last year.
Despite the debt being paid in full, the controversy has followed him into his military service. A public petition was once again filed demanding his removal from the prestigious military band. However, the Ministry of National Defense appears to be standing by him.
The Ministry stated that a soldier’s placement is handled at the discretion of commanding officers and that there are “currently no discussions” regarding a change in his status. Cha Eun Woo is currently fulfilling his mandatory service while attempting to move past the financial scandal.
