Director Yeon Sang Ho is back—and he’s promising a whole new kind of zombie.
His upcoming film Colony has unveiled its first official stills, kicking off anticipation ahead of its May release. The film, which already drew buzz with its typography reveal, offers a deeper glimpse into its unsettling world.
Colony follows survivors trapped inside a quarantined building during a mysterious outbreak, as they fight to stay alive against infected beings evolving in unpredictable ways.
The newly released images spotlight eerie, never-before-seen infected. Blood-soaked figures and strange, slime-like textures create an unsettling visual tone, hinting at a completely new type of threat.

The stills also introduce the central characters: Jun Ji Hyun as Kwon Se Jung, observing the infected from inside the building; Koo Kyo Hwan as Seo Young Chul, calm and resolute; Ji Chang Wook as Choi Hyun Seok, standing protectively beside his wheelchair-bound sister, played by Kim Shin Rock; and Shin Hyun Been as Gong Seol Hee, caught in a tense phone call.

With a cast that also includes Go Soo, the film has already gained attention following its 30-second teaser. Now, these first stills further build intrigue, teasing the emergence of a new kind of infected unlike anything seen before.
Known for shaping the global K-zombie wave, Yeon Sang Ho is once again expected to push the genre forward with a distinctive new vision.
Colony is set to hit theaters in May 2026.
