Netflix has a new all-time champion—and it’s powered by K-pop.

The streamer announced on August 27th that KPop Demon Hunters (directed by Maggie Kang) has officially become the most-watched Netflix film ever, racking up a staggering 236 million views across its 10 weeks of release. The milestone cements the animated fantasy as Netflix’s No. 1 movie of all time, across every film category.

“THEIR #1 ERA,” Netflix proclaimed on its official channel, celebrating the film’s record-breaking feat.

The film first made headlines last month when it dethroned Leo to claim the top spot among animated titles on the platform. Now, KPop Demon Hunters has gone beyond animation to outpace global juggernauts including Red Notice, Carry-On and Don’t Look Up.

Even in its tenth week of release, the film shows remarkable staying power, maintaining a drop-off rate of less than 2% per week—fueling expectations that it could ultimately cross the 300 million view mark.

The triumph marks yet another jewel in the project’s crown. Already, KPop Demon Hunters has claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with its original soundtrack and topped the theatrical box office worldwide. With its Netflix victory, the franchise now stands as a true global takeover.

The animated action-fantasy follows K-pop superstars Lumi, Mira and Joy as they balance dazzling onstage careers with their secret roles as demon-fighting heroes behind the scenes.

While KPop Demon Hunters reigns supreme in Netflix’s film category, the series record still belongs to Squid Game Season 1, which amassed 265.2 million views and 2.2 billion watch hours worldwide.
