Han So Hee has earned a reputation for being fiercely loyal both on and off-screen, and her latest good deed, which flew under the radar for nearly a year, is now capturing hearts.

On June 29th, stunt coordinator Kim Min Soo revealed that Han So Hee gifted laptops to all 43 students in the Theater & Film Department at Seoul Institute of the Arts after leading a special action workshop last July. The total value of the gifts reportedly amounted to 50 million KRW (approx. 36,000 USD)—paid entirely out of her own pocket.

Han So Hee first connected with director Kim on the Netflix series My Name, and when he later asked her to mentor students at his action school, she didn’t hesitate. “She initially agreed to teach for just one day,” Kim said in an interview with Ilgan Sports, “but she ended up showing up every day for a week, training them for four hours at a time. She didn’t just teach fight choreography—she also shared insights into acting, emotion, and facial expression.”

According to Kim, Han was affectionately called “Team Leader” by the students and bonded closely with them. On the final day, she surprised every single student with a brand-new laptop—a gesture sparked by empathy.

“One of the students had a broken phone they couldn’t afford to fix. She learned that many of them were financially struggling and wondered how she could help them,” Kim explained. “In all my years running this action school, this is the first time I’ve seen someone give gifts to students with their own money.”

Though the actress wanted this to stay between them, Director Kim felt it was time people knew. “Regardless of the amount, good deeds should be shared,” he said.

He also recounted how Han returned for the students’ graduation day to personally hand out certificates in full make-up. Even after the workshop, she stayed in touch via a group chat, continuing to offer encouragement.

“She might seem cold and aloof on the outside, but inside, she’s easygoing and fiercely loyal,” Kim commented. “When I first met her for ‘My Name,’ she was physically weak and had no athletic background. But she showed up to training every single day, worked her heart out. And at some point, she’s grown so much. Sure, she has talent—but it’s her relentless effort that made her who she is.”

Meanwhile, Han So Hee’s next project is the film Project Y, co-starring Jeon Jong Seo. The film follows two women who, with nothing to their names but each other, risk everything to steal hidden cash and gold in a desperate bid to escape rock-bottom reality.
