Hwang Jung Eum has officially finalized her divorce from former pro golfer and businessman Lee Young Don, her agency confirmed yesterday.
Her agency Y.ONE Entertainment announced that “As of May 26th, 2025, Hwang Jung Eum’s divorce proceedings have been formally concluded with the court’s mediation decision. The divorce is now legally finalized.”
With the legal proceedings wrapped up, all property freezes are expected to be lifted soon.
The financial disputes had gotten particularly messy in recent months. According to reports from Woman Sense magazine last week, Lee’s steel processing company Geoahm Steel filed a lawsuit in March demanding Hwang Jung Eum repay 157 million won (approx. 115,000 USD) in loans. The company also sought to freeze 1.8 billion won (1.3 million USD) worth of her real estate holdings last month.
In response, Y.ONE clarified that both the lawsuit and asset freeze were part of the standard property division process during divorce proceedings.
Hwang married Lee in 2016 and the couple share two sons. The couple initially filed for divorce in 2020 but dramatically reconciled, only for the actress to file again in February 2024, this time alleging her husband’s adultery.
Adding to her legal troubles, Hwang was recently indicted for allegedly embezzling funds from Hunminjeongeum Entertainment, the family corporation she owns 100%.
