After years of silence, T-ara’s long-standing bullying controversy has flared up once more, with Jiyeon now facing a wave of online backlash.
Social media and online communities lit up on November 12th as netizens demanded answers from Jiyeon about the 12-year-old scandal. Her posts received comments such as “Did you really slap her?” and “Explain all the bullying and abuse.”
This renewed scrutiny stems from unverified rumors surrounding the alleged bullying within T-ara, where some fans are revisiting the past, hoping for an explanation from Jiyeon. So far, Jiyeon has not made any public response.
Other T-ara members have also been silent on the matter. Hyomin recently posted a photo wearing a trendy scarf, and Eunjung shared a shot of a bouquet—both without addressing the controversy. Qri, however, shared an image of a crescent moon against a dark sky, which some fans speculated was symbolic given the timing of the revived scandal.
The controversy reignited after T-ara’s former CEO, Kim Kwang Soo, discussed the “T-ara bullying scandal” on MBN’s Let’s go just days ago. His comments triggered an immediate response from Hwayoung, the former T-ara member, who shared her perspective on her Instagram.
Hwayoung stated, “I was forced to leave without any apologies, and for 12 years, I kept quiet. The T-ara members appeared on various shows, claiming there was no bullying, but that’s not true. Watching them with my parents, we felt helpless and in tears.” She added, “I know I can’t take on a CEO who’s had over 40 years of influence in the entertainment industry, but I’m speaking out now because I’m confident in the truth of what happened.”
As Hwayoung’s claims gained traction, additional allegations supporting her story emerged, further fueling the already intense public debate surrounding T-ara’s past.
