Author Park Sang Young expressed his gratitude and admiration for Nam Yoon Su, who took on the role of Go Young, the lead character in the upcoming LGBTQ-themed drama Love in the Big City.
Park remarked, “He’s got that rare look—someone who seems like they’d be your neighbor but isn’t really there. His smile is contagious, and it’s impossible not to empathize with him. Watching him, I couldn’t help but think, ‘Nam Yoon Su has made this character into something completely different from what I created,'” offering high praise for the actor.
When discussing Nam Yoon Su’s casting, Park recalled, “I had this gut feeling—I just knew he would get the role, and he did. Watching his performance, there were so many moments where he really looked like he could be gay. I think that’s the ultimate compliment to say to the actor.”
He added, “I also felt like he fully embraced the essence of the character. Nam Yoon Su was so open and candid about the role. Even after filming, when I expressed concerns about potential backlash from hate groups or losing out on advertising opportunities, he reassured me, saying, ‘What’s the big deal? I’m just playing a guy who likes guys.’ I’m truly thankful for that.”
