Ryu Hye Young has firmly denied speculation that she and Ko Kyung Pyo, her friend of 16 years, are romantically involved.

The actress discussed her upcoming film Killing Time in an interview in Seoul on October 14th. The thriller is set to hit theaters on October 21st.

Killing Time follows an online streaming crew of the same name whose members lose everything in a sudden accident. When they visit an abandoned hospital in hopes of making a comeback, they find themselves under attack by a mysterious entity and must fight to survive.

Ryu plays Yeon Woo, a streamer who returns to the camera after a shocking on-air accident.

Outside of acting, Ryu has also been sharing glimpses of her daily life on MBC’s variety show I Live Alone. Her appearance on the show with Ko Kyung Pyo, a friend of 16 years, caught viewers’ attention because of their playful dynamic, sparking speculation that the two might be dating.

“I really didn’t want that kind of reaction,” Ryu said with a laugh. She explained that she read the many comments left on the I Live Alone video featuring the two of them.

“Some people commented, ‘They dated and broke up,’ while others said, ‘They say they’re just friends now, but they’ll be handing out wedding invitations in a few years,’” she recalled. “I read all the comments, and it felt like a psychology study. I found myself thinking, ‘People really do see things differently from how I do.’”

When asked whether there was any chance the two would eventually send out wedding invitations together, Ryu firmly repeated, “Absolutely not.”

Killing Time opens in South Korean theaters on October 21st.
